Abstract

The main objective of this research was to demonstrate the processes of subjectivity present in the narratives of a trans collective. These narratives were obtained through the audiovisual material generated by said group. These narratives had to do with the transition of their gender identities related to the sociocultural structure. Social network analysis (ARS) was used in this research. Semantic graphs were built using the atlas ti program. The study was structured in three levels. The first level was based on micro-relationships, in which the photographic content of the collective was considered, such as its relationships, subjectivity processes, and consolidation of subjective dimensions within the documentaries’ narratives (which were the central observation units). The second level referred to the complexity of what was evidenced in the first level. This second level considered violence due to prejudice, which gave an in-depth character to the relationships between the dimensions and the narratives. The third level delved into the macro relationships. All the relationships between the subjective and violent dimensions were presented. The results evidenced the inherent connections between the subjectivity of identities in transit with violence due to prejudice. It was visualized that violence (in its different forms) is part of the particular way in which trans people construct their gender identity. In addition, the processes of subjectivity were not developed separately but were presented simultaneously through audiovisual narratives.
