Abstract

In this paper, we consider a modified topology of a slotted spiral antenna with two Archimedean arms. The reflector influence on the antenna’s parameters is investigated. Antenna design is carried out in the Altair Feko 2022 software. Two options are being considered for the manufacture of a spiral high-frequency antenna on two materials: Arlon and FR4. The shifted ring option may be effectively used to securely connect the feeder to the antenna. For the study, four prototype antennas were made: LHCP and RHCP on two materials Arlon AD250 and FR4. In all cases, a shifted transforming ring is used. The use of a shifted ring is justified in most cases, because in the Ku band the technological connection of the cable to the transforming ring may significantly worsen the matching. FR4 material may be used to reduce the cost of the large antenna arrays or MIMO systems. A general and complete study of the optimized topology of a slotted spiral antenna has been carried out in a wide frequency range (C, X and Ku bands).
