Abstract

Selfishness, harming others and benefiting oneself, serves by mistake as human basic motivation in social science research. Even today, such a mistake is still unknown to academic circles; instead, it has become a common knowledge. In fact, selfishness is not a human motivation; it is one type of human behavior. In this paper, we uncover a few human truths. First, the driving force behind selfish behavior is human root motivation to be number one among acquaintances in important variables. Second, a selfish behavior can obtain tacit approval of part or even all of its victims. Thirdly, a weak person first makes downward comparison and then upward comparison; while a strong person first makes upward comparison and then downward comparison. Finally, social justice is not unconditional and hence not dependable.
