Abstract

Self-healing juvenile cutaneous mucinosis (SJCM) is a new entity distinct from previously described forms of cutaneous mucinosis. We present a 9-year-old girl who had asymptomatic skin lesions for 8 months. Examination revelaed multiple, flesh colored 2-3 mm papules on the bilateral knees, thighs, wrists and dorsal hands. Histopathological examination of the skin lesion showed a large amount of alcian blue (pH2.5) positive mucin deposited between the collagen bundles of the reticular dermis. No associated disease could be detected and the lesions resolved gradually. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case in Taiwan.
