Abstract

This paper presents a simple and efficient method for the design of a frequency tunable self-diplexed antenna based on loading asymmetric grounding-vias. The structure consists of two antenna elements loaded with two asymmetric grounding-vias, specifying the uplink and downlink operation frequencies. By choosing the appropriate positions of the two grounding-vias, high isolation between the two antennas can be achieved. Results verify the multi-functionalities of the proposed compact structure in terms of frequency-tunability, high isolation and low cross-polarization discrimination.
