Abstract
In this paper, we have demonstrated a self-adaptive remote phosphor coating method in pc-white LED with vertical chips. With this method, the phosphor layer is separated from LED chip at a distance, so that the extraction efficiency of blue light is enhanced, and the luminous efficiency is increased about 16%, compared with the conventional phosphor coating. With the self-adaptive remote phosphor coating method, the profile (thickness and shape) of phosphor coating layer matched with the angular intensity distribution of blue light emitted by LED chips is realized. The experimental results have verified the remote phosphor coating structure shows very high spatial color homogeneity (SCH) performance, that is, extremely small angular correlated color temperature (CCT) deviations were obtained, which are 206K at average CCT of 4600K.
