Abstract

First-person essay about how the nature of our memories changes as our means of forming and storing those memories changes: from the written word to snapshot photography to boxes of junk and the digital cloud. Touches upon writers such Virginia Woolf, Vladimir Nabokov, and Alison Bechdel in exploring how memories are ephemeral and changeable but essential to who we know ourselves to be.
