Abstract
Empowerment of women is the key issue in protecting women’s interests and in the overall development of the nation. This study is an effort to put across the effectiveness of Self Help Groups (SHGs) as an exogenous strategy. In almost all the various research papers, theses, and books referenced, women empowerment was viewed in the same way as the conventional thought of Kabeer.
