Abstract
The authors report the room temperature operation of an InGaAs/InP based Wannier-Stark modulator in a waveguide configuration as a self-electro-optic effect device for the generation of various nonlinear optical transfer functions for TE polarised light at 1.55 µm. Optical bistability has been achieved and the application of the device as an optical power discriminator is demonstrated.
