Abstract

The article examines certain aspects of the development of self-education in China from ancient times to the present. The urgency of self-education is argued, taking into account the challenges of our time and the policy of the PRC to achieve the quality of education and the formation of an open intellectual society. The article presents a retrospective analysis and essential characteristics of the development of self-educational activity in the context of self-learning, self-training, self-education, individualization and informatization of education. Separate forms of organization of self-educational activity in China are revealed through the introduction of the models «Dalton-plan», «Shenben» and others. Some problems and prospects of informatization and digitalization of education, as well as online education in relation to selfeducation activities in the country are shown.
