Abstract

Three resonant topologies (LCC-PRC, forward ZCS-QRC and forward ZVS-MRC) with self-driven synchronous rectification are compared from the point of view of telecom applications, taking into account efficiency, simplicity, and switching frequency variation range. It is concluded that it is possible to obtain a very high efficiency even with low output voltage (3.3 V) in any of these topologies with the use of synchronous rectification. However, when there is a high variation range in load and input voltage, the best performance is the one shown by the forward ZVS-MRC. This topology presents the additional advantage of being able to operate at very high switching frequency. >
