Abstract
In an earlier paper (Cousin et al. System 6/2, 1978) an indication was given of ongoing work in microteaching for a pre-service course in TEFL. The present paper follows on the earlier one by outlining procedures and rationale for microteaching in an in-service TEFL course. Exploratory microteaching is distinguised as an appropriate model for in-service teacher training in TEFL. Within this model the teacher trainer is concerned to identify methodological categories rather than to shape teacher skills. The categories used within the SCEO programme are outlined.
