Abstract

New intramolecular donor-acceptor Diels-Alder adduct dyes were synthesized with different spacer length, which shows high intramolecular energy transfer efficiency. Pure exo and endo isomers of Diels-Alder adduct dyes were isolated and prepared. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals the precise configuration of exo dye isomer, and longer Diels-Alder C–C covalent single bonds than normal single bonds. Time-resolved fluorescence measurements reveal the intramolecular energy transfer process from violet-light emitting donor to green-light emitting acceptor. A rising time of acceptor emission of donor-acceptor dye was observed when the dye donor was excited by nanosecond flash lamp. Low energy transfer dye could be self-corrected into high energy transfer dye by energy donor exchanges.
