Abstract

AbstractA variation perturbation method in the Hartree–Fock scheme has been described to calculate excited 3P state wave functions of atoms. The starting wave functions are obtained from a study of the singularities in the dynamic polarizability calculation [1]. The 23P, 33P and 43P states of He, Li+, Be2+, B3+ and C4+ are studied. The results obtained are in satisfactory agreement with experimental values and with other accurate theoretical estimates.
