Abstract

We propose a method of laser pulse self-compression in an array of equidistant, identical, weakly-coupled active light guides. It is shown that laser pulse self-focusing in such one-dimensional arrays decreases the compression length significantly (by more than 15 times) in comparison with the case of laser pulse self-compression in a single active light guide. Analytical estimates for the minimal pulse duration and the length of self-compression of laser pulses in a system of weakly-coupled active light guides are derived, and they agree well with the numerical simulation results.
