Abstract
Reflective appraisal theory is based on the assumption that a person's view of self is largely determined by what that person thinks significant others think about him. Since parents have been identified as important significant others, the relationship between self-appraisal and recollections of parental appraisals was examined. Self-appraisals appeared to be at least partially a function of recollected parental appraisals.
