Abstract

FOR a number of years a disorder in livestock has set a considerable farming problem in a district in County Limerick. In horses, this disorder in its severe form is shown by the loss of hair from mane and tail, with alteration in the growth, and eventually loss, of hooves. Horses affected in this way ‘go down’, while the less severe form of this condition is reflected in hoof deformation.
