Abstract

The concentration of selenium was measured in mature human milk from 15 nursing mothers. The selenium content of the milk was determined by neutron activation analysis. Selenium was found in all samples in amounts ranging from 0.013 to 0.053 ppm. The mean selenium content of the milk samples was 0.021 ppm. The influence of selenium intake on susceptibility to dental caries in children is discussed.
