Abstract

The development of catalysts for selective production of wax by F-T synthesis was performed. For continuous synthesis of wax, n-pentane used as a supercritical fluid, was useful for suppressing deactivation of the catalyst. Silica-supported cobalt catalysts showed high activities and high wax selectivities even at relatively low temperatures, such as 200°C. Higher Co loading was favorable for wax synthesis. The addition of lanthanum and nickel to the Co catalysts enhanced the catalytic activities. The catalyst calcination temperature exerted a strong influence on the catalytic activity.
