Abstract

Abstract Nearest neighbor frequencies and base composition of ribonucleic acid synthesized by the prostatic nuclei of castrated rats were altered by the injection of testosterone to the animals. Actinomycin D in vitro minimizes such differences. The results indicate that the androgen selectively enhances the synthesis of ribonucleic acids rich in guanine and cytosine.
