Abstract
Mechanistic features of selective catalytic hydrogenation reactions of alkynes and of aromatic hydrocarbons are discussed. Catalysts considered include molecular mononuclear transition metal complexes, dinuclear complexes, clusters, and also metal surfaces. Particular attention is given to competitive reaction systems based on alkyne-alkene and on arene-alkene reaction mixtures.
