Abstract

205 isolates of actinomycetes bacteria were isolated from soil samples collected from Satun province, Thailand. To have more chances to get diverse groups of actinomycetes bacteria, soil samples were treated using three different methods before inoculated on two selective media, humic acid-vitamin agar and coal vitamin agar. After two months of incubation at 30°C, all typically characteristic colonies of actinomycetes were picked and purified then tested for inhibition activity against a virulent pathogen, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus SK1 (MRSA SK 1) using double-layer agar plate method. There were 49 isolates (23.90%) showed inhibition zone against MRSA SK 1.
