Abstract

Crude and partially purified preparations of DNase II Key Words from mouse liver, spleen, and kidney contain a DNase II-specific DNase II inhibitor. The inhibitor is selectively inactivated by a low pH treat- DNase II inhibitor ment and heating while DNase II is very resistant to these treatments. Activation of DNase II achieved by removing the inhibitor was highest in the kidney and lowest in the liver. The inhibitor is not dialyzable and can be inactivated by pronase digestion.
