Abstract

A good alternative to generate the power are Renewable Energy (RE) sources. In this system DC-AC conversion has been done using an inverter to meet-up the load needs. The inverter needs to be much efficient and must give the sinusoidal waveform at the output. Unwanted harmonics is also the main concern and it should be as minimum as possible. Significant research has been done in past years to eliminate the unwanted harmonics. Existing control techniques shows that selective harmonic elimination (SHE) is more active and efficient than others. However non-linear transcendental equations imposed a challenge to solve these equations and give the optimal result. Switching angles are the important factors that needs to be minimized to eliminate the unwanted harmonics. These switching angles can be calculated by mathematical techniques like Newton Raphson (NR) method symmetric polynomial etc. and some bio inspired intelligent algorithms. This study gives the review on multilevel inverters for selective harmonic elimination that PSO is better in terms of time and efficiency than Genetic Algorithm, Imperialist Competitive Algorithm, Differential Algorithm and Bee Algorithm. This paper will support the scholars to design an improved conversion system.
