Abstract

Abstract A boronic acid binding site and biphenyl fluorophore has been used to create a fluorescent PET (photoinduced electron transfer) sensor for saccharides in aqueous solution at pH 7.77. Formation of five or six membered cyclic boronate esters can be “read out” by the relative fluorescence intensity.
