Abstract

“Lighting up” the nuclear magnetic resonance of molecules with laser-polarized xenon could be a valuable new source of structural information. The 1H NMR signals of protons near the xenon binding site in α-cyclodextrin (shown schematically on the right) are selectively enhanced through couplings that are sensitive to 129Xe1H internuclear distances.
