Abstract

In today's scenario, large portion of the internet traffic over Content Delivery Network (CDN) consists of the multimedia data. The security of the video and audio becomes critical during its transmission over the CDN. The Video on Demand (VOD) and live video streaming applications require their video to be protected from unauthorized access by users in the network. To protect the videos transmitted over the network, encryption of the video data becomes inevitable. Full encryption of the video data takes considerable amount of time. Considerable research has been carried out in selectively encrypting the video in the frequency domain and the spatial domain. In this paper, a method has been proposed to selectively encrypt the audio extracted from the video data that is transmitted over CDN. Comparative analysis between the time taken for full encryption and decryption of the videos of different sizes and the proposed method is discussed.
