Abstract

A single administration of 375 mg kg of 1-amino cyclopentane carboxylic acid causes within four days a dramatic atrophy of the pancreas in normal rats. The damage is caused to the acinar cells of the pancreas, leaving intact the islets of Langerhans. A total loss in protease activity in the pancreas corroborates the histological picture.
