Abstract
1. The solution of problems of optimal selection of the number and composition of operating units for a given value of the total discharge of each pumping station will make it possible as a whole for the canal to reduce expenditures of electric energy for pumping the necessary volumes of water. 2. The mathematical approach to the solution of the given problem examined above is suitable for canals with open pools and with multiple-unit pumping stations having a considerable internal range of regulation.
