Abstract

Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) is a decision-making method based on multi-criteria, which considers the influences of multi-criteria on the demanding objectives. It helps decision makers sorting viable scenarios and selecting the most appropriate scenario. In residential land selection process, MCDA is applied to analyze the influences of natural and ecological factors on the suitability of residential land. And the gravity model is used to analyze the accessibility by modeling the accessibility potential surface in GIS. The data used include spatial data (road network, district and street boundaries etc.), physical condition data, ecological and environmental data, public facility data, and environment condition data such as noise, air pollution. The detailed method is introduced in this paper as well as a case study of using the proposed method in Wuchang district, Wuhan, China. The testing results show the effectiveness of the proposed quantitative analysis method in urban planning.
