Abstract

Heavy load transportation is the main developing direction of railways in China. Dynamic system models of vehicle, with the swing, cross-braced and deputy frame radial bogie respectively, were built respectively in SIMPACK MBS software. Worn shape of wheel profile, which was running in straight line with 100,000 km and running in curve line with 50,000 km, were predicted based on Kalker simplified wheel/rail rolling contact theory and Braghin's wheel wear model. The results indicate that no matter the vehicles running in straight or curve line, the minimum wear occurs in deputy frame radial bogie's wheel and the maximum wear occurs in swing bogie's wheel; when developing the bogie with heavier axle load, deputy frame radial bogie should be a chosen priority in the view of reducing wheel-rail wear.
