Abstract

In 1974, the Western Australian Department of Agriculture commenced a series of two 5-year contracts with the Libyan Ministry of Agriculture to provide managerial and technical supervision for a “Cereal Project” to be commissioned by the Geffara Plains Authority. The project involved the development of nine low rainfall sites totalling 50000 ha for cereals and sheep production using the dryland legume pasture/cereal crop ley farming system used in Western Australia.
