Abstract
In this paper we describe a selection based detection method for spectrum sensing in cognitive radio which is a combination of both energy detection and covariance absolute value detection method. Comparison is made between energy detection and covariance absolute value methods for different type of input data. It is shown from the simulation results and theoretical analysis that the performance of the selection based method is more insensitive to the type of input data.
