Abstract
Videotape represents an instructional tool that can add a new dimension of flexibility to teaching, whether the user has available only the basic videotape recording (VTR) equipment or has access to an in-house production unit capable of high-level technical quality. Several basic principles and guidelines for production and use of videotapes are presented that will enable an instructor to expand the function of this technology in teaching. Experimentation with and utilization of existing videotape equipment and capabilities can present rewarding possibilities for fulfilling teaching responsibilities and making student learning experiences more valuable as preparation for the practice of health care delivery.
