Abstract

Abstract The most widely used pieces of equipment in plastics compounding are continuous mixers and intermeshing corotating twin-screw extruders. Key design aspects and processing characteristics of these two machines are compared and examples of processing typical compounds in both types of equipment are presented and discussed.
