Abstract

There exist generic criteria that each organization should develop before beginning their search for an automated project management system. It is important to understand the factors in an organization that will affect the use of such a system. Moreover, it is possible for such a system to fail. It is explained what to look for and how to evaluate the organizational environment. Relevant management needs are easy entry and retrieval, resource management, progress reporting, performance analysis and accounting. Notes on developing a selection process are given.
