Abstract
This issue of the Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering presents the second of three special sections containing revised and extended versions of selected papers from the ASCE International Workshop on Computing in Civil Engineering 2007. Four technical papers are presented in this second special section. The first presents a method that addresses the unique requirements of building information modeling BIM in concrete construction, and the second outlines a way to integrate discrete event simulation and system dynamics to create a hybrid simulation tool with the benefits of both technologies. The third paper describes an approach for allowing cross-disciplinary searching in building information models, and the last presents new ways for addressing asset management issues of high-quantity, low-cost assets in transportation.
