Abstract

We have selected the most relevant articles in congenital heart disease and paediatric cardiology published during the last year. There is an increasing interest in Fontan circulation because of the increasing number of patients with this condition surviving into adulthood, as well as the limited knowledge in this area. New surgical and percutaneous therapies are described in different forms of congenital heart disease. As regards the tetralogy of Fallot, pulmonary regurgitation assessment is relevant for the management and prognosis of this condition. Prosthetic valves in pulmonary position might have intrinsic characteristics relating to longevity and infectious endocarditis risk. New European guidelines on the management of cardiovascular diseases during pregnancy have been published. Finally, the development of new technologies in medicine, such as machine learning and 3D printed anatomical models could help in the management of patients with congenital heart disease.
