Abstract

This article reviews the most relevant publications and studies in the field of interventional cardiology in 2019. In the area of coronary interventional procedures, the management of patients with multivessel disease, in the context of both acute and chronic coronary syndromes has been the subject of studies of great relevance and with solid results that will potentially change our clinical practice. On the other hand, the comparison between different anti-platelet strategies in patients with acute coronary syndrome highlights the importance of patient individualisation. Certain anatomical substrates, such as the treatment of chronic occlusion and calcified lesions continue to generate a considerable number of publications. The advances in the field of interventional procedures for structural heart disease have continued to increase exponentially in the last year. The most outstanding novelties in this field are the emergence of new evidence in percutaneous aortic implants in low-risk patients, as well as the results in mitral and tricuspid percutaneous valve repair.
