Abstract

These years seismic rock physics analysis plays a more and more important role in reservoir property estimation, since it can provide a physical basis for mapping of lithology, porosity and fluid of subsurface materials with seismic data. To realize the delineation of “sweet spot” reservoirs of the QJ area in Songliao basin with 3D prestack seismic amplitude data, three key technologies associated with rock physics analysis are investigated, including well log evaluation facing reservoir characterization, rock physics modeling, and seismic data calibration. The results from rock physics analysis further provided a help in the selection of favorable reservoir prediction method. The effects of rock physics on the feasibility analysis of reservoir characterization, the optimization of prestack inversion, and the interpretation of prestack seismic inversion results are showed. A successful horizontal well example demonstrated that rock physics analysis is of very importance not only in optimizing fundamental data but also in predicting sweet spots.
