INTRODUCTION

Determination of seismic risk for an area (or a particular building or infrastructure system) is an analytical method that integrates information, i.e. data and maps showing the general properties of the area, with the databases on the general properties and vulnerability values of the built environment. There is no possibility to predict where and when the destructive earthquake will happen, but awareness that the continuous growth of the population is related to a continuous growth of the size and number of towns and cities in seismic areas can lead to a reduction of potential catastrophic consequences. For this reason, the effort in reducing losses due to possible earthquakes is one of the key points in terms of risk evaluation. The main result of the study is the prediction model for threatened buildings in Croatia in the function of peak ground acceleration
