Abstract
This paper presents the case studies on the seismic design of a composite beam tied arch bridge under a research project on seismic behavior of highway bridges. In this paper, an available model of a CFT tied arch bridge with a main span of 180 m in China is discussed. Analysis is focused on the seismic responses of pile due to response spectrum analysis. The design response spectrum in china is selected as the excitations to examine the seismic behavior of the bridge. Results show that the design of arch rib, suspender, main girder, and pier meets the seismic performance objectives, and can be in elastic condition under the design earthquake.
