Abstract

We suggest a new philosophy of seismic modeling in the context of seismic history matching (SHM). The concept of dual equivalence models, which is honoring the fundamental differences between disciplines, is introduced and demonstrated on geophysical and reservoir flow models. We construct a mapping between these two and show how high quality seismic can be modeled from the uniform blocks of a reservoir model. The key steps are geometrically handling the different models and Fourier surface modeling of the resulting multi-scale grid. We demonstrate this approach on a complex reservoir/ geo-model coming from the North Sea. The results show that this approach can produce realistic and high quality seismic data from a reservoir model within a reasonable time frame.
