Abstract

Experimental data is presented for models of truss (beam) transversely stiffened cable structures to show the dynamic characteristic and seismic response. Shaking tests were conducted on a 12ft × 12ft five-component table. The natural frequencies of models were tested under the white noise acceleration excitation. To measure the deflections and dynamic cable forces the models were subjected to vertical and horizontal Il-Centro earthquake. Good agreement is obtained between the experimental results and analytical study by using a nonlinear computer program. The influence of various parameters, such as the flexual rigidity of truss (beam), are also discussed.
