Abstract

ABSTRACT The residual displacement of column has significant effect on the post-earthquake functionality of bridge. In this paper, the nonlinear finite element model of a simply supported beam bridge was built. The seismic performance of reinforced concrete column, unbonded prestressed reinforced concrete (UBPRC) column, and fully prestressed column was compared. Quasi-static residual displacement was adopted in the fragility analysis. The result showed that the quasi-static residual displacement affects the vulnerability of bridge system only for the collapse damage limit state. UBPRC column is a good balance between the vulnerability arising from peak displacement and residual displacement.
