Abstract

In this paper, an attempt has been made to obtain dynamic increment and dynamic decrement of earth pressure in yielding gravity walls located in seismic regions having partially submerged cohesionless backfill in active and passive cases respectively. Inclined backface wall with inclined backfill having uniformly distributed surcharge has been considered in the analysis. Expressions have been developed for computation of both the dynamic increment in active case and dynamic decrement in passive case with their points of application from the base of wall. Results have been presented in the form of non-dimensional charts.
