Abstract
Research progress on the seismic behaviour of structures under long-duration ground motions (LDGMs) is summarized. First, the definitions and characteristics of ground motion (GM) durations are introduced, and the generation mechanisms and characteristics of LDGMs are explained. Then, investigations of numerical simulation, experimental research and theoretical analysis of structures under LDGMs are presented, and research studies of the ductility, energy dissipation capacity, seismic fragility and collapse resistance capacity of structures under LDGMs are expounded upon in detail. On this basis, the seismic design methods for structures under LDGMs is introduced, and the structural seismic design codes considering the effects of LDGMs are summarized. In addition, future research on the seismic behaviour of structures under LDGMs is proposed. It is recommended that more attention should be given to the seismic responses of structures under LDGMs and that the definitions and characteristics of LDGMs should be further studied to improve the numerical simulation, theoretical analysis and experimental research methods of structures under LDGMs. Additionally, the seismic responses, seismic fragility, and collapse resistance capacity of structures under LDGMs should also be investigated. This paper provides references that consider the effects of LDGMs in the seismic design and seismic assessment of structures.
