Abstract

INTRODUCTIONGeodetic measurements show that the convergence rate between Southern Sweden and the Alpsis about < 2 mm/a (Ward, 1994). This amount works on a rheologically stratified medium asdescribed by Elsasser (1969). The largest part of Central Europe reacts by wide span bending. Shearzones, mostly of horizontal strike slip character form an exceptional situation inside the studiedarea. Earthquake activities are concentrated to intersections of different shear zones (lilies, 1982).
