Abstract

Aim of this study is to determine the current situation of Turkish tourism investments and the degree of need for a renovation for Turkish tourism investments by SWOT analysis. The data in order to employ SWOT analysis is collected by a questionnaire that is applied to tourism academicians, accomodation managers and travel agency managers. SWOT analysis results suggest that tourism investments had better to be directed to Blacksea, East Anatolia and Southeast Anatolia regions. Analysis results also imply that the following actions would contribute to the efficiency of tourism investments. Tourism investments would be channelled to culture-religion, congress, sports and health tourism concepts. On the other hand, taxes and fees applied to tourism sector are suggested to be rearranged and tourism investments are suggested to be renovated according to new tourism concepts. Furthermore, the relationship between tourism investments and environmental quality should be improved. Also, obtaining financial.resources in the tourism sector should be facilitated and a more efficient marketing and promotion program should be pursued.
