Abstract
Abstract Seikatsu Rinsho is a Japanese theory about the aberrant patterns of social life exhibited by persons with severe mental illness. This theory serves as the foundation of psychosocial rehabilitation in Japan. The manner in which two rehabilitation programs implement Seikatsu Rinsho is reviewed in this paper. Japanese paradigms of rehabilitation are compared to models of intervention popular in the West. Strategies for measuring its effects are also discussed.
